Currently we are not certified organic. I will say however, we use organic cultivation practices and biodegradable cleaning products in the lab and farming facility. Additionally we use organic cane alcohol for the alcohol extraction process and sometimes we source mushrooms from local farms and those are always organic.

Alcohol is used to extract specific, medicinal compounds that hot water cannot, such as triterpenes and sterols, which are only alcohol-soluble. Alcohol breaks down the tough chitin cell walls of the mushroom and ensures high-potency by acting as a preservative.

The mushroom that you see above ground is the fruit of the mycelium that grows underground. The mushroom is the reproductive part of the fungus and contains high concentrations of beneficial compounds. Some, in my view, inferior mushroom products out there will also use “myceliated grain” in their extracts and capsules, this practice dilutes potency and is in essence a filler. All of our mushroom products at Evolution Ranch are made with only the fruiting body of the mycelium.
