Our Story Begins:

Beneath The Surface

There is a quiet intelligence in the way mycelium moves.

Beneath the forest floor, unseen networks stretch through soil and roots, connecting living systems in ways we are only beginning to understand.

Mycelium survives through relationship... nourishing and being nourished in return. It transforms decay into new life, teaches resilience through adaptation, and reminds us that the strongest ecosystems are built through connection.

The more time I spend with mushrooms, the more I learn from them.

Not in an abstract sense but through observing how they live.

Each variety unique.

Mycelium moves patiently, working beneath the surface long before anything visible appears. Underground mycelial networks nourish the forest by recycling nutrients and sustaining cycles of growth and renewal since long before we existed.

Simply put their role in nature is relational...I guess that’s another thing we have in common with fungi.

How
Evolution Ranch
Began

My name’s Simon Seeband and I’m the founder of Evolution Ranch.

Hard to say exactly where the beginning was, but I suppose Evolution Ranch spawned in Mount Shasta, California when I said yes to a friend’s request to help him out at his mid-scale medicinal mushroom farm. What started as a couple afternoons of manual labor at his facility turned into about a year-long internship where I became fascinated with the fungi kingdom and specifically how to cultivate these incredible life forms.

I absorbed everything my friend taught me from, how to properly pasteurize substrate to keeping everything sterile in the lab during inoculation to growing liquid culture and taking tissue samples.

I studied the life cycles of all kinds of genetics, lions mane, shiitake, various trumpet and oyster varieties as well as reishi. Each one with its specific preferences and unique medicinal offerings.

When I moved north to Ashland, Oregon, I built a mid-scale mushroom farm of my own, implementing and adapting what I had learned. Soon I was working the Rogue Valley farmers market circuit providing fresh mushrooms to the local community.

Along the way I became increasingly curious about methods of concentrating the medicinal properties of various mushroom species. First I began dehydrating the mushrooms, putting them through a mill and making powders.

Then I learned about the “dual extraction” process.

~ Alcohol extraction draws out certain medicinal compounds, mainly the ones that are fat-soluble as well as triterpenes. This process takes 6 to 8 weeks.

~ Hot water extraction draws out different medicinal compounds, primarily beta-glucans. This is about a 48 hour process

It turns out the dual extraction process is critical to produce the most potent, bio-available and well rounded medicinal profile in a medicinal mushroom tincture.

And so, I set out to create the kind of medicine I would feel confident taking myself.

I started with lions mane, shiitake and reishi, then branched out to chaga, turkey tail, maitake and cordyceps. Then, with my wife’s alchemical expertise I began making dual extracted herbal tinctures as well to combine with the mushroom extracts to make targeted blends.

First there was the Neurogenisis blend of 7 mushrooms and herbs, formulated to promote several aspects of cognitive performance. Then came the Resilience blend, geared toward foundational support and healthy immune response.

"It’s not about being part of a fast moving wellness trend...it’s about the deep relationship I’ve developed with these mushrooms."

My support in the local community grew and the feedback was clear: The dual extracts I was creating were making a meaningful difference in people’s lives and overall well-being.

What began as curiosity slowly grew into years of studying fungi, evolving cultivation techniques, herbal remedies, extraction methods, and the relationship between medicinal mushrooms and the human body.

I believe mushrooms should be prepared in a way that honors their full complexity, thus, the dual extraction process. Though this extraction method is slower by nature, the end formula is potent, broad spectrum and bio-available with the highest potential to offer benefit to the human body...which is what we’re all about at Evolution Ranch.

It’s not about being part of a fast moving wellness trend...it’s about the deep relationship I’ve developed with these mushrooms.

I’m incredibly grateful for what they’ve given me, and I’d love to share them with you.

Today every tincture and mushroom product I make is with this intention.

Daily Rituals & Relationship

Evolution Ranch products are meant to become part of steady daily rituals — added to morning coffee or tea before the day begins, blended into a smoothie mid-morning, a dropper full under the tongue on-the-go, stirred into a cozy drink during quiet evenings, and taken consistently over time as a form of nourishment rather than a quick fix.

I believe the body responds best to patience, rhythm, and long-term relationship with healthy living, much like the ecosystems the mycelium quietly supports beneath the soil.

Relationship is also at the heart of how I want this business to exist in the world.

Instead of relying on marketing language and wellness trends, my intention is for Evolution Ranch to feel grounded, transparent, and human...a relationship built on trust, shared curiosity, and respect for the organisms these products come from.

"Relationship is also at the heart of how I want this business to exist in the world."

"At its core, Evolution Ranch is an invitation to slow down, listen, and reconnect
with the intelligence of the natural world."

What Mushrooms Have Taught Me

Mushrooms have changed the way I understand health, the natural world and life itself.

They’ve taught me that meaningful transformation often happens slowly, beneath the surface. That healing is rarely separate from relationship. And that the most resilient systems — whether forests, bodies, or communities — depend on connection, reciprocity, and balance over time.

My hope is that the products from Evolution Ranch carry some of that spirit with them: thoughtfully formulated mushroom extracts and powders that help people deepen the relationship with their bodies, reconnect with the natural rhythms of life and cultivate a stronger sense of balance, resilience and well-being.

At its core, Evolution Ranch is an invitation to slow down, listen, and reconnect with the intelligence of the natural world.
